Wilde's Destiny

Each man lived his own life, and paid his own price for living it. The only pity was one has to pay so often for a single fault. One had to pay over and over again, indeed. In her dealings with man, Destiny never closed her accounts.

From "The Picture of Dorian Gray" by Oscar Wilde.
(emphasis mine)

Nice sentiment from Wilde! A good piece of foreshadowing also. Unfortunately we already know what is going to happen from the previous page where the sailor (I was wondering when this character was going to show up again) jumps up in response to something a woman calls Dorian. I wish this foreshadowing had happened before this happened as it is really unnecessary and slightly wasted here.

a reminder that each day is a gift...

A gift from Destiny to her bitches!

Destiny: "I won't break your legs today, bitch, but it's coming!"

Re: Yep

yes...in the same sense as, when falling from an airplane, the time you have before impact is a 'gift'.

gravity and destiny hang together, see?

my dad used to say '5 minutes is a long time if you are hanging by your toes.'

destiny doesn't play favorites. she has picked her pace and you aint budging her from it. you will hit the ground when she says so. if that makes you happy, so be it. if you squeel in pain, so be it.

bitches is right!
