Life in a nutshell, at least a walnut, a pecan would be too small

Wow it has been a while.

The barge is back in the water (happened last Wednesday), but I seem to be having electric problems. We (the electrician and I) have not been able to narrow it down. Every thing seems to point to cable going connecting the barge to the shore, but jiggleing it doesn't seem to cause the shore breaker to trip. I am not even sure if I will get to finish this entry before the electric pops.

I have primed all the new panels and window sills. Hopefully the weather will hold out and I will be able to paint the new areas also. I picked up the paint this morning from Rhodda Paints on Stone Way. I gave them a peice of wood with the old paint to match. They did an amazing job. The test sploodge they did is indistingushable from the old paint.

I am working on getting the barge back in order but intermittant electricity has made it a little hard. I am about 50% done. I bought some new weather-stripping for the doors. I removed the old stuff when I painted them (it was pretty cruddy). The doors are now "ice-blue" on the outside. I decided against restaining/polyurithaning them as the polyurithane wears pretty quickly in the sun and rain. My goal is to paint the windows (which are peeling) to match. Paint the trim dark blue and eventually paint the barge a nice light purple or lavender. I like the colors that the barge is now, but I think a change might be in order. Sounds like chore for this summer.

Tonight I went to TosT lounge in Fremont to listen to some music and drink a few cosmopolitians.

Yesterday I had a really good one-on-one with my manager. We talked about the fact that I am not working to my potential but it had a positive note. He feels I have the knowledge to move to the next level and is hoping to see me put my skills together to manage it. It would be really stupid of me to waste this oppourtunity, he is probably the best manager I could ask for if I want to continue at Microsoft. I keep thinking of quiting, but I don't want to do this without making sure it is not just an artifact of the sleep aepnia or ADD which is currntly going untreated. It is a fantastic job with amazing pay and benefits I know I would not be able to get something similar with the economy the way it is. The amount of regret I would feel if I changed my mind would be huge.

You are doing such a good job keeping up with everything in your life and doing all the work recently on your barge.. which cannot be easy: working on "home improvement projects" while your home is basically non-functional. Such a challenge and I am so impressed to see how well you have coordinated it.

problems such as this electrical thingie are annoying but definitely a part of any remodel or home improvement project. I am glad you have an electrician to help you figure it out.

thanks for the update!

Fast

You are fast, I was in the middle of electrical resets when you posted :-)

Re: Fast

HA!
I think you are the first person in the world to ever think
or say that I was 'fast'.

I will treasure this moment.
:)
LOL

about jobs

yes, cherish this manager.. and listen to the advice.
sounds like someone who knows you, knows the field, and values you too.
a good combination.

sleep apnia and ADD... what is involved with investigating that?
seems like the obvious next step.. maybe those items should go to the front of your 'mental list' for the new year. Once you work out whehter or not those are real issues for you or not.. and what your options are... you will have more information to work with.
eh?

Wow. Congrats on getting your house back. Must be an incredible relief.

I also have a supervisor that believes that I have more potential than my current position allows for, and is encouraging my growth. I hope to use this opportunity to improve my resume just in case I end up moving somewhere else, like, say, for instance... oh, I don't know. The Pacific Northwest, maybe. ;)
